How To Become A Foster & Adoptive Care Provider

  1. Contact Us: We will call or email you back to get some basic information and can answer your questions. If you are interested, we will meet with you in your home to talk further about the process and provide you with an application and training information. There is no pressure to proceed at this time. This is simply an information sharing meeting to help you decided if you want to move forward in the process. If you would like to proceed then you will complete and submit your application.

  2. Attend Training: Once we receive your application, you will be registered for the mandatory PRIDE training.PRIDE stands for:Parent, Resource, Information, Development and Education.It is the provincial training for all foster, adopt and kinship applicants. .It is an interactive program that is offered at various times throughout the year.
     
  3. Home Study: We will complete as SAFE home assessment with you.SAFE stands for:Structured Analysis Family Evaluation, and it is a tool for helping us (and you) to understand your suitability and readiness to become a foster /adoptive parent. Typically, our home study worker will meet with you 4-6 times.
     
  4. Supprt & Training: Once you become an approved foster/adoptive care provider, you will be assigned a worker who will be your support and guide. Our agency also offers peer mentoring, support groups, and regular training and workshop opportunities. We will be here to assist you every step of the way.
