October is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Dress Purple Day

Every October Children’s Aid Societies across the province raise awareness about the rights of children and youth to safety and well-being, and the responsibility of adults and community services to help children, youth, and families who need support.

Ontario Dress Purple Day takes place on October 24 each year. We join together with our key partners, Boards of Education, schools, and child care centres and homes, to share this positive message that help is available and to celebrate the community that cares for kids and families.

Eight Ways Your School Can Make Oct. 24th Memorable

Classroom resources are available to help teachers and education professionals make the day a meaningful and engaging learning opportunity for students from JK to Grade 12. Resources support conversations about safety and well-being in all aspects of students' lives.

Resources for Elementary Schools
Includes Lesson Plans for JK-2 and Grades 3-5

Resources for Middle and High Schools
Includes Lesson Plans for Grades 7-8 and Grades 9-12

The classroom resources are evidence-based primary prevention materials, empowering students to think and act in positive ways, appropriate for their age and stage of learning and development. The goal of the materials is to help all children and youth, regardless of the situation they are in, to acquire skills and attributes that lessen their vulnerability to harm.

We would be pleased to speak with your group, organization or school about the work we do for the community and with the community as well as Duty Report. Please contact us at 519-455-9000 ext. 2789 or to request a presenter to your group.
